Notifications?

Hi all,

I made a horrible discovery today while straightening out passwords. It turns out some requests sent to my email address to be added to my notifications list have gone into my spam folder... and that means I have no idea how many I might have lost over the last year.

If you ever sent me a notification request and I didn't respond, you might want to send me a new one at bashfullyshameless@gmail.com. Of course, if you're reading my blog, that's probably not such a problem... but I figure I should let folks know.

Not a lot to tell about Norwescon this year, though I met with Lee Moyer about the cover for Rich Man's War. He drew up a very, very rough concept sketch while we sat in the hotel restaurant talking, and so for the third time I now have to change something in the story because what he dreamed up for the cover is too cool NOT to do. It's funny how that can happen.

That's all for the moment. Back to writing!

  1. Oh my god, I'm so happy for you but I am SO SAD because this will be a delay right? I tear my hair out daily waiting for Rich Man's War, please PLEASE can you give us a rough ETA? I beg of you oh lord of the writing, PLEASE. Or.. maybe.. maybe a sample chapter? No.. that's too much I know I'M SORRY I have an addiction to amazing sci-fi series such as what I believe this one is going to be.

    2. Hah! No. I wouldn't call it any sort of delay. I'll need to change a couple pages, probably nothing more.

The rough draft currently has the big climax arc just around the corner. The two things I tend to find easiest to write are conversations and action sequences... the latter of which is a little more complex in a novel like this because I want the distances and speeds of spaceships to make some sense. I don't crunch lots of numbers, but I do look at benchmarks like Astronomical Units, Lunar Distance, light seconds/minutes and such.

As for an ETA: Believe me, NOBODY wants this book out more than I do. However, I said "early summer" for my last novel (Natural Consequences) and that turned out to look more like August, so I don't know. If life doesn't throw me any curveballs, I hope to have this in the hands of my trusty set of beta readers by early or mid June? But that's all I can really say.
