A New Novella -- Days of High Adventure!

So I've told people, perhaps inconsistently, that I may well have a bit of a surprise to release before I'm finished with Rich Man's War. Here it is!

Days of High Adventure!

Gaming with friends offered what Amanda missed in her dreary college life: friendship and excitement, the thrill of combat for a good cause and the chance to be a hero. Neither Amanda nor her friend, Eric ever expected to face the suddenly real world of their fantasy adventures, but when a careless joke draws the ire of a dark wizard, both must rise to the challenge.

Leveling up has never been so hard... or felt so good.

WARNING: Days of High Adventure contains graphic violence, graphic pre-marital sex, graphic violation of college housing regulations, rampant geekery, multiple dismemberments, impalings, bad language, nudity, drug references, consumption of alcohol, destruction of private property, paganism, theft, arson, slavery, reptile-on-human violence, improper placement of hazardous materials, money laundering, illegal immigration, tax evasion, poor workplace standards, unwed cohabitating couples, kidnapping, assault under color of authority, bearers of false witness, human sacrifice, desecration of religious sites, unsafe work standards, uncredited film quotes, and references to games falsely accused of Satanic influences. There may be dungeons and/or dragons herein.

  1. Kay, you've gone too far this time! How dare you portray graphic violation of college housing regs? I, for one, am appalled at this grotesque display! This is what's wrong with America today!

Also, I'll take two copies please.

    1. So, regarding my next sci-fi novel, I was discussing military spaceship food with some friends yesterday (because reasons). One of them suggested "chipped beef," and I had to tell her that she had GONE TOO FAR. I'm not writing a dystopia, for Pete's sake!

  2. Is this a extended version of your story from liturgical?

    1. This is indeed the story that originally appeared on literotica. I have given it a much better polish, but I'm not sure if I'd call it "extended" or not. Some aspects are more fleshed out, others a little more streamlined. It's a little lighter on the sexy scenes, but to be fair this story was probably the lightest on smutty content of anything I had on Literotica in the first place. It's still there, but a little more brief to keep the flow of the story going.

    2. I had actually reread the original version just a few weeks back, so I think I spotted most of the changes. :) Some of them made me chuckle -- I think you could have left the Cimmeria references alone, its public domain now.

As far as I could see all the polish and changes were to Amanda's storyline -- Eric's was unchanged except for (I think) a bit of filler in the slave camp that was there due to how the old story was episoded.

(Sometimes a book goes live on Amazon (US) without all the links happening right away... it wasn't on my author page yet, either, last time I checked.)

  4. Wait WHAT?! *blinks in disbelief*
This is... I don't even... Kay! Didn't you say, at one point, you weren't going to release this outside of lit because of copyright reasons? Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate it (in fact, I'm buying it RIGHT NOW), but the mind boggles.
    Nonetheless, thank you - again.

... and what in the world is chipped beef? Or am I better off not knowing?

    1. I had concerns. "Days" is and always was, on several levels, a clear work of satire. I wanted to make sure that those concerns were worked out if I released it as a published work, and they have been in its current (final) form.

  5. Good book, deserves a series! There are other magical universes they could dungeon delve into. Given that they are the only magic-effected people on the planet, you have to figure they could easily get sucked into a new plot. The sex in the story was more female audience oriented than male, at least from my perspective. I did find it interesting that it was key point to the story.

  6. This does tie into the Good Intentions world right? What's the time frame here. I just started it and I recognize Alex, but is this before GI or what? Don't get me wrong I'm really enjoying it, but I could use a little clarification.

    1. "Days" begins in the summer before Good Intentions, and it ends in between GI and Natural Consequences.

  7. Great book. Is Amanda going to show up in future tales? Oh and Fallon? Love both those lovely ladies.
